About Me

Sharma MacDonald photoSharma MacDonald is a multimedia journalist based in Toronto.  She uses her background in the performing arts to work both behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera.  In honour of Canada 150, Sharma received an award as one of the top 150 Black Canadians, in the category of Actor/Filmmaker/Community Role Model.  Sharma sits on the Speakers Bureau for United Way Greater Toronto.  She loves telling stories that speak to the hearts of others and has written and directed a short film, which was an Official Selection at the Women’s Director International Film Festival.  Sharma is trained in Avid Media Composer, and Burli software for Radio and Television.  She has experience with the Panasonic AG-AC160, Canon Rebel t6i, Tascam DR-40 and iPhone cameras.  She is skilled at doing stories on the go using the OSMO mobile.  Sharma writes, shoots, and edits ENGs, her first one being on the subject of the 2018 York University strike.  She is a graduate of the Seneca Summer Institute for Multiplatform Journalism.
